Worcester Academy

Worcester, Massachusetts | High School and Middle School 6-PG, Co-ed | Founded in 1834

Description

Worcester Academy is a co-ed day/boarding school for grades 6-12 & postgraduates. Through a thoughtfully designed curriculum & an abundance of extracurricular activities, WA is an environment filled with expert guidance, plenty of options, and, of course, challenge. WA's mission is to instill in students the desire to learn throughout life, engage passionately with the world around them, and to be honorable persons of strong and resourceful character. Through core values—honor, respect, community, personal growth, and challenge—every student is encouraged and expected to "Achieve the Honorable."

WA is located in the second largest city in New England, just one hour from Boston. The city of Worcester boasts a world-class art museum, classical music venues and a theater for performing arts. It is known as a foodie destination and there are many restaurants for students to enjoy. Our school is convenient to the train station with frequent trips into Boston, and we take students to many weekend events including concerts, festivals, holiday performances, shopping and more. Outside of the city, there are great hiking trails and we offer skiing in winter. A vibrant and growing city, Worcester is also home to 10 colleges/universities and exceptional medical facilities. Our urban location differentiates us from other boarding schools in New England. Students are able to do hands-on projects in our community and even take advantage of internship opportunities in the city.

Courses offered include advanced science and math classes, with engineering and computer science curriculum. Extracurricular opportunities including Math Team, Robotics, Science Olympiad. There are also many courses available in music, visual arts and theater. Students can participate in various concerts, shows, exhibitions, and more.
